Connections - Practicing Healthy Spirituality

By: Rev. Eric Smith

“Just as the wave cannot exist for itself, but is ever a part of the heaving surface of the ocean, so must I never live my life for itself, but always in the experience which is going on around me.” ― Albert Schweitzer

Dear Foothills,
Jesus taught his followers that we are all one. Experience teaches us that not everyone understands this concept. The Foothills community of faith is committed to advancing this cause – we are joined together to celebrate and to explore and to further God’s purposes through the Church of Jesus Christ. Jesus called it, the Kingdom of God.

We are entering a stewardship emphasis. Our theme is: Connections – Practicing Healthy Spirituality. During the next few weeks we will be sharing a sermon series called “Healthy Spirituality.”

We have spiritual aptitudes and preferences. Devotion, Compassion, Intellect, and Awakening are titles that represent broad territory in spirituality. You might be strong in one area or strong in multiple areas. These are the themes for our next four Sundays.devotion-article.jpg

Within the Foothills community we celebrate spiritual aptitudes and explore the areas with which we are less familiar. All of this leads to growing stewardship… call it better management of our lives.

Plan to come each week; if you can’t be present you can access a video recording of each sermon from the church website: Foothillsumc.org.

On Sunday, November 23, we will show a video in worship that is about Foothills and built upon this same theme. It will be something very special.

Our Foothills Family Sunday is December 7 and we will bring our Estimate of Giving cards for 2015 as an offering of ourselves and a celebration of personal financial management!

It’s a great season ahead.
God bless you.
