Update on the Healing of Orion
We recently tied a quilt for Orion Owens. The Owens family attended Foothills for several years before moving to Hawaii. Orion had a lake diving accident in July while with friends in Utah. After surgery to repair his spine, Orion has been spending his time at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO, known for helping patients with spinal cord injuries. His prayer quilt from Foothills covers his hospital bed while he recovers. His mom Laura says, "please thank everyone. We all appreciate the prayers and support. The quilt brings color and cheer." Follow Orion's journey on facebook. Click here to make a donation to help the Owens family defray Orion's medical expenses.. Read more
Trunk-or-Treat
A safe, family-friendly, trick-or-treating alternative will take place in Foothills' lower parking lot on Sunday, 10/23 from 5 pm - 6 pm. Bring your bags and go car to car gathering loads of goodies. The event is hosted by the Foothills Faith Academy. If you would like to sponsor a spot, please contact director Kay McLaughlin. Spots are available for parking and decoration from 4 - 4:50 pm.

Children's Choirs Have Begun
Have you heard? Children's Choir rehearses Sunday mornings from September - May, 9:30-10:15am in King Hall. Children will sing in worship several Sundays throughout the year. Sign up or send questions to interim children's choir director Julia Wallace. This choir is for children in grades K through 5.
The Sheriff and Foothills Folks
Make sure to set your calendar for October's Foothills Folks on the 12th at 11:45 am in the Youth Center. There will be a fantastic presentation from the San Diego sheriffs with a crime prevention officer, a detective and volunteer patrolmen present. They will discuss the current state of security and policing in the area.
October Kairos Retreat
Foothills is sending its missionaries back to prison for another Kairos retreat at RJ Donovan Correctional Facility. The retreat will run from October 27 - 30 and your help is needed to create the greatest impact for those who will be in attendance. The greatest need is for fresh, home-baked cookies that will be given to the inmates. Please bring them bagged by the dozen on Sundays 10/16 and 10/23. Since the cookies are going into a prison, there are specific rules to be followed. Instructions and much more information can be found on our website
Sign Up to Be An Acolyte
If your child or grandchild is in grades 4 through 7 and is interested in being an acolyte, sign-ups are happening every Sunday in September in King Hall. Acolytes serve every 4-6 weeks and are an important part of the worship service. They light the candles on the altar, assist the ushers with the offertory, and assist with baptisms. Acolyting is a meaningful step in a child's faith journey -- a path that they take alongside their parents/grandparents and the congregation. Training for new and continuing acolytes will be held October 23 at 11:45am in the choir room. Read More
