Lent: Where Am I Going?   
The period called Lent is 40 days of reflection and spiritual preparation finishing with Holy Week and Easter. This Lent at Foothills we will focus on the question "Where Am I Going?" while offering lots of enriching opportunities: On Sundays, witness "Scripture Alive" during worship as actors present the Word. On Mondays, pray and meditate with Pastor Eric in the sanctuary. On Wednesdays, enjoy dinner with friends and then learn about world religions with incredible lectures. Youth Summer Camps at Cedar Glen  
The summer camps at Cedar Glen are at the very least a wonderfully fun experience, but we often hear that they are transformative for the youth that attend. Camps are available for youth aged lower elementary up through senior high to get away for a week to a camp in Julian that has tons of activitivies and programs put together by the United Methodist church to bring everyone closer together and closer in Christ. Holy Week and Easter 
Holy Week begins on Sunday 4/9 with Palm Sunday and Foothills procession of the palms with the children. Be in solemn contemplation of the sacrifice on Maundy Thursday, 4/13 with a 7:30 pm communion service in the sanctuary. Foothills is partnering with our neighbors, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran for a 12-3 pm meditation in their sanctuary. Come and go as you please and hear from many spiritual leaders. Easter Sunday is 4/16 with the message "The Dawning Day" from Pastor Eric at our 8:30 traditional service and 10:30 contemporary service. A Rummage Sale Approaches 
Just in time for Spring cleaning, a rummage sale will be here the week of April 24-29. Collection is on the first three days in King Hall from 9 am - 5 pm, with the sale on the final three days. The two rummage sales that Foothills runs each year are the most reliable and best source of funding for the missions of our church. Please do what you can to contribute to this great opportunity to grow our mission in the community.

Faith Academy Open for Enrollment  
Enrollment is now open for the Faith Academy day care and preschool for the 2017-18 school year. To get your child into one of the best preschools in the area, contact Director Kay McLaughlin. Early enrollment priority is given to Foothills members and currently enrolled students. 
Foothills Folks 4/12  
Foothills Folks is a wonderful social opportunity for seniors to gather for a nutritious lunch and catered entertainment. The luncheons are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 11:45 am in the Youth Center, with the next meeting being on 4/12. Read More 
Family eXperience 4/9 
Attention families with kids ages preschool through middle school: Join us April 9 (11:45am-1pm) for free lunch at Family eXperience in King Hall. Bring faith to life with activities and a service project based on the April KidsConnect life app "humility!" Read More 
EarthCare Photo Competition 
The EarthCare group is gearing up for Earth Day by hosting a photo competition. Submissions are to be sent to foothills@foothillsumc.org. Parameters for the imagery are pictures of nature that honors or celebrates God's creation. The submission deadline is April 8 and the winner's photo will be framed and put on display somewhere on the church campus. Limit 3 submissions per person. 
Walking for God, Caring for Creation 
The UMC South District has organized a 5k fundraiser to raise money for missions. All the family is invited and their will be accommodations for strollers along this path that meets at 8:30 am on 4/22 at Point Loma UMC. Read More 
Another Opportunity for Financial Peace 
This incredibly successful program that ties fiscal responsibility with Christian values is going to be hosted at Foothills again, right after a very fruitful offering of it has just ended. The next 9 session course will begin 4/4 at 6:30 pm in King Hall. Learn more and sign up for this program that has helped many Foothills members gain control of their financial lives. Read More 
Administrative Council
Admin council is held quarterly for members and congregants to gather with the administrative arm of the church, hear progress reports on important matters and vote on the future direction of the church. The next meeting is 4/9 at 6 pm in King Hall. A free meal will be provided to all attendees. The agenda will include a discussion about the possible adoption of El Cajon First United Methodist Church by Foothills for purposes of developing a ministry center. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The Annual Mad Hatter's Tea 
The annual Mad Hatter's Tea and luncheon is coming on 4/29, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, hosted at Monte Vista Village. Join in the tea party of the year and support Meals on Wheels San Diego's East County office. Tickets are only $30 to enjoy delicious tea, tasty treats, opportunity drawings and much cheer. RSVPs are due by April 14 and you can contact Marilyn Honea (619-660-2136) to coordinate your attendance. Be sure and wear your most fanciful hat, as there will be a hat parade with prizes!
Family Camp 
The 2017 Family Camp weekend has been announced for Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29! Sign your family up now for a fun weekend in the sun and the mountains of Julian at Camp Cedar Glen. Take part in family games, a climbing wall, archery, swimming, variety shows, campfires and more. All of the fun will be in the theme 'come together.' The cost is $100 per person with scholarships available. Contact Carla Slater for more information and to sign up
