Sponsor a Beam - Support the Church
The church is in great need of repair of the structural beams that also provide for the look and feel of our sanctuary. The cost of the repairs is about as great as the need: $200,000 needs to be raised and everyone's help is needed to keep our faith home strong. Sponsor a beam and join the beam team to get us to the goal. Watch this video to learn all about what is happening. Click here to give or read more
A Thank You from the UMW
The UMW and I want to thank everyone who helped in any way with the recent inventory and reorganization of the two kitchens. Your response to our "apple tree" requests for items was so wonderful! We now have plenty of towels, trivets, hot pads, etc. Even if you were not able to provide needed items, your suggestions and/or feedback were invaluable. There was some physical labor involved, and I thank all of you who lent your backs to it, particularly Kathy Myers. It was a time consuming task, but well worth it. We have noticed some on-going organization by kitchen-users, and we are thankful for that as well. After all, the kitchens belong to all of us and also the responsibility of keeping them clean and well organized. I am planning another inventory mid-summer to assess the need for additional items or organizing efforts. You can let us know of any kitchen issues by using the notepads on the door frames. I check them regularly.

Also a big THANK YOU for all of the items donated to our UMCOR Health Kit Project. Thanks to you we were able to complete 63 kits, 13 over our goal. Diane Vogan carried them to the District Meeting to be sent on to the warehouse in Salt Lake City. A reminder that we are not meeting in July or August. Our next meeting in September will feature a dinner and presentation by some of our Fiji Mission Team. More information will follow closer to the date. I will be updating our red program book in the fall, so please let me know of any changes to your information.
Blessings, Alice Broadhurst UMW Membership (and kitchen elf)
Infant Care Center Repairs Moving Forward
Work is already moving forward on the infant care center expansion portion of the beams campaign. The tentative start date is July 11th. Foothills beam team leaders will be meeting with the contractors throughout the project to create a uniform vision of the campus. The bridge connecting the patio to the nursery is part of this project and will be closed off during the expansion for approximately 2 weeks. Information on childcare during this time can be found in the narthex on Sunday mornings.
Administrative Council Meeting
Each quarter, the governing body of the church meets to vote on and discuss matters of import. The next administrative council meeting is Sunday, July 24 at 6:30 pm in the King Hall Connection Center.
Open Trustees Meeting
The trustees meeting for July will include another open 30 minute session for the future of the Avocado property to be discussed. All members are encouraged to attend this meeting from 6 - 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 12 in the Disciple Room.
FUMY DABs and DAB/NABs
FUMY is our Foothills United Methodist Youth (middle and high schoolers) and DABs and DAB/NABs (days and nights at the beach) are some of the best times of the year. The season begins July 7 with a DAB/NAB and then weekly on Thursdays at La Jolla Shores until August 11. Get involved in the summer!
Be A Summer Kids Connect Leader
Children's Ministry would love to have you help one or two Sundays this summer with KidsConnect. If you're interested in serving children at either the 8:30 or 10:30 KidsConnect times, please contact Lisa Stewart or put your name, phone and Sundays you'd like to serve on the tear-off card Sunday morning.
1 Service Sundays in August
Throughout August and to the Sunday before Labor Day, Foothills is hosting a single morning of worship at 9:30 am, that will blend all the most beloved features of traditional and contemporary worship. Our two distinct services and their congregants will be together as one joyous celebration during this summer month.
Foothills Auction 2016!
Save the date for our 2016 Auction - "Holy Guacamole! It's a Foothills Fall Fiesta!" October 1st, 5-9 PM at the beautiful home of Dale and Joy Pruitt. The committee is seeking vacation homes, boat cruises, special dinners, and more for the Live Auction segment of the event. The Season of Aloha is Here
Temperatures are rising and that means it's time to relax a little in the pews on Sunday. The season began on Father's Day (June 19). No Hawaiian shirt is too tacky or sleeves too short.
Caregiver Support Group
A new support group for caregivers of all kinds has begun at Foothills, taking place every second and fourth Wenesday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Please note the change in start time. Free respite care is available during the meetings which are facilitated by Sue Sullivan. The group meets in the Youth Lounge.
