KidsConnect Instructors Needed 
Be a KidsConnect Leader or Helper! Children's Ministries is in the midst of their yearly search for Sunday School Teachers (September through June). Please prayerfully consider being a part of this ministry to the children in our church, 3-year-olds to middle schoolers, two or more Sundays a month at the 10:30am service. KidsConnect uses an activity/games-based curriculum which makes it fun for you AND the kids. Please contact Lisa Stewart
Say YES at the Aug 28 Ministry Fair 
After the 9:30 am worship on August 28, we celebrate our ministries and missions with a USO themed say "Yes" Sunday. Red, white, and blue will adorn King Hall as we see a collective display of all the many opportunities Foothills has for engagement. A free brunch will be served to all. Check out some of the Fall classes you can sign up for on the Foothills website.  
Introducing Music Director Dennis Keller 
Today marks Dennis Keller's first official day on staff at Foothills UMC and big Sunday events are coming to introduce him to the congregation. On Sunday, August 21, Dennis' wife Jim Mei will sing two songs during the 9:30 all together worship. At 9:30 worship on Sunday, September 4, Dennis will be officially introduced to the congregation while he leads a hymn sing of some of his favorites. Read More 
Helping Children Deal with Anxiety & Pressure 
A seminar is being offered for parents at San Diego First Church in the valley on Sunday, August 28 from 3:30 - 6 pm. Don't miss the opportunity to hear Chap Clark, Ph.D., a well-known practitioner, adolescent and family scholar and author, as he speaks about the anxieties and pressures middle- and high school students face in today's culture. Throughout August and to the Sunday before Labor Day, Foothills is hosting a single morning of worship at 9:30 am, that will blend all the most beloved features of traditional and contemporary worship. Our two distinct services and their congregants will be together as one joyous celebration during this summer month.
MomsConnect at Foothills 
Gatherings for encouragement, prayer and support are held on campus and off campus in homes or restaurants throughout the year on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6 pm. A variety of activities are enjoyed and free childcare is normally offered with reservation. Contact Carla Slater 
Welcome Reception for Julie Walker 
The South District of the United Methodist Church is pleased to officially welcome the new Wesley Foundation director and South District young adult ministries coordinator, Julie Walker, to San Diego! Please celebrate and welcome her at a reception held at First UMC in Mission Valley on August 24 from 6 pm - 8 pm. Read More 
Face to Face: Walk to Emmaus 
An adaptation of The Walk to Emmaus, Face to Face is specifically crafted to meet the needs and life stages of older adults. The program seeks to invite men and women, ages 60 and older, to experience Jesus through an eight-session journey. The experience covers subjects such as discipleship, mission, grief and end-of-life issues. The primary theme of the program is "Living in Grace." The highly-flexible schedule allows participants the freedom to engage in structured Bible study and prayer in a church setting or other community space. Upcoming encounters are September 23, 24, 30 and October 1 from 9:00 - 3:30 each day. Read More
Hillary Whittington Q&A and Book Signing 
Foothills member, Hillary Whittington, will be discussing her newly-published book Raising Ryland: Our Story Of Parenting A Transgender Child With No Strings Attached. Hillary will be available for a book signing and QA at Foothills in King Hall at 11 am on August 21, after the single worship service. A free continental breakfast will be served and hosted by the Foothills Reconciling Fellowship. Hear more about this family's compelling faith journey in raising their child Ryland.
Foothills Auction 2016! 
Save the date for our 2016 Auction - "Holy Guacamole! It's a Foothills Fall Fiesta!" October 1st, 5-9 PM at the beautiful home of Dale and Joy Pruitt. The committee is seeking vacation homes, boat cruises, special dinners, and more for the Live Auction segment of the event. If you would like to donate, please contact Karen Smith, the church office, or any member of the auction committee.
