Our mission is to convey God's word through music and the arts, and to make available to our children, youth and adults the opportunity to praise God in song and symbol. Though one in the Spirit, God has given us varied gifts. As a community in Christ, we will provide opportunities for all to enhance and share their gifts through education and presentation to the congregation and the community. Ministry Organizations
Chancel Choir - Adult Vocal Choir
The Chancel Choir is our traditional worship choir. This choir provides music each week for the 8:30 a.m. service. This mixed adult choir rehearses from August-June at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday nights. Foothills is pleased to offer choir concerts with a full symphony orchestra during the Christmas and Easter seasons, participation in community ecumenical services, and specially themed fun family events, such as Choir Follies. Members of the choir have the opportunity for solo and ensemble work as well.
Witness - Adult Praise Band
Witness is our contemporary praise band. This group provides musical leadership for the 10:30 am worship service each week. Participation in Witness is by invitation. The band offers a broad range of musical styles from “pumped-up rock” to solo guitar with vocalists. We have offered songs from such diverse Christian artists as Lincoln Brewster, Casting Crowns, Kutless, Francesca Battistelli, Third Day, Addison Road, 33Miles, MercyMe, and many more. We also believe in creating a theologically sound relationship to the music of the secular world. To that end, we have shared in worship the music of Train, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Goo Goo Dolls, U2, Darius Rucker, Justin Bieber, and others. Music is the “international language” and it speaks in many dialects. Witness cordially invites you to experience the Spirit in our dialect, Sunday mornings at 10:30. Check out their website!
Harmony Ringers - Adult Hand bell Choir
Foothills has had a hand bell ministry since 1978. This choir meets at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and rings frequently in both hours of worship and also in the community. They are spotlighted in our seasonal concerts and draw large crowds when they play in locations like the San Diego Zoo!
Music Ministries for Youth and Children
Genesis Ringers - Grades 3-6, Sundays 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Bell Room
Our graded children’s and youth hand bell program is designed to teach music reading with choir chimes and hand bells. The program also develops musicianship, and offers opportunities to provide a worship experience and community service to youth in grades 6-12. Rehearsal times are determined by the availability of the members in each choir.
Alleluia Singers - Vocal Choir - Grades 1, 2 and 3
Sounds of Joy - Vocal Choir - Grades 4 and 5
Sound Faith - Vocal Choir - Grades 6 through 12
Foothills Children's and Youth choirs are some of the best around. The groups teach children much about singing, following music, enunciation and tapping into their creativity. Director Carol Paton has been working with children through music for decades and draws from that experience to make being in a Foothills choir a truly formative experience. The children's choirs offer two concerts a year and the youth choir assists in worship on a regular basis. Contact Carol Paton to get your child involved!
