Trunk-or-Treat and the 2nd Annual Chili Cookoff

Trunk or Treat 4:30-5:30pm
The front parking lot will open at 4pm for those who want to decorate their car trunk or parking space and closes at 4:30pm to ensure the safety of trunk-or-treaters. Chili Cook Off 5:00-6:30pm
Enjoy hot dogs and chili at the 2nd annual Foothills UMC Chili Cookoff in King Hall.
Those who want to enter must contact the church office by12 pm, Friday October 26. email@example.com or 619/670-4009).
One category per chili entry and more than one type of chili may be entered. The categories are: traditional, with heat, imaginative and vegetarian. Entrants are to bring 3 quarts of chili and a serving spoon. The church will provide the tasting cups and small spoons.
3-4pm -- chili entrants arrive and set up in King Hall
4-5pm -- judging
5pm -- doors open for people's choice tasting
5:45pm people's choice voting closes
6pm all winners announced
Cornbread muffins are needed for the chili cookoff. If you are able to provide a pan, please contact Alice Broadhurst.
Grossmont Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale Performs Queen
The GSOMC continues the 2018-2019 performance season with their second project entitled QUEEN featuring Tolga Kashif’s monumental choral/orchestral work honoring the music of British rock group, Queen. The Queen Symphony is a six-movement symphonic work that features many of Queen’s iconic melodies . . . from “Bohemian Rhapsody” to “Bicycle Ride.” The choirs from the San Diego School of Creative & Performing Arts join the members of the Grossmont Master Chorale & Symphony Orchestra in this highly unique performance. As part of the performance, videographer Erick Diaz will interweave a multimedia presentation during the performance. One performance only in the acoustically fine venue of Foothills United Methodist Church:
November 2 at 7:30 pm. $15 general admission, $10 senior, $5 student
Foothills Faith Academy Craft Faire
The annual Faith Academy craft faire (and bake sale) is here for its 34th year! King Hall is full to the brim of handmade, original crafts from local makers. Come see and smell the wonderful seasonal displays that fill the hall for these two special days. The first day (Monday) is an exclusive sneak peak to Faith Academy families and Foothills members from 5 pm to 7 pm. The second day (Tuesday) is open to the public from 9 am to 7 pm.
FX: Family Experience
FX is a way for you to experience faith together as a family with a free lunch! Held on the second Sunday of the month from 11:45am-1:15pm, FX helps parents and children experience a different spiritual virtue each month. FX gives parents a “jumping off point” for intentional conversations with their kids during their week. FX is FUN for the whole family! Where else could you use items such as hula hoops, marshmallows, and ping pong balls to explore faith concepts in fun and active ways? Join us for an hour or so of free food, fun, friendships, and faith development!
