Music Ministry

An Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan at Foothills
gilbert-and-sullivan-strip.jpgThe Grossmont Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale return to Foothills to perform a repertoire of Gilbert and Sullivan works, led by accomplished bariton, Michael Sokol. One performance only at 7:30 pm on April 27 in the Sanctuary. Admission is $15, seniors $10 and students $5. Hear selections from the Pirates of Penzance, Mikado, H.M.S. Pinafore, Iolanthe and Yeoman of the Guard. Tickets available at the door.

Having music in your life brings you into a new appreciation of the beauty of sound and color, rhythm and tempo. People who share in music-making enjoy a strong sense of companionship and community. Your communication with God is taken to a new level and you have a connection with your own spirit that is a constant source of comfort, joy and healing.
These are pretty good reasons to sing in the choirs, play in the band, or ring bells here at Foothills!

Our Leadership:

Dennis Keller - Music director
Linda Cree - Director of bell choirs
Tim Robertson - Praise band director
Julia Wallace - Children's choirs

Our mission is to convey God's word through music and the arts, and to make available to our children, youth and adults the opportunity to praise God in song and symbol. Though one in the Spirit, God has given us varied gifts. As a community in Christ, we will provide opportunities for all to enhance and share their gifts through education and presentation to the congregation and the community. Click here to join a choir.

Music Ministry Organizations

Chancel Choir - Adult Vocal Choir
The Chancel Choir is our traditional worship choir. This choir provides music each week for the 8:30 a.m. service. This mixed adult choir rehearses from August-June at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday nights. Foothills is pleased to offer choir concerts with a full symphony orchestra during the Christmas and Easter seasons, participation in community ecumenical services, and specially themed fun family events. Members of the choir have the opportunity for solo and ensemble work as well. music-ministry-2016.jpg

Witness - Adult Praise Band
Witness is our contemporary praise band. This group provides musical leadership for the 10:30 am worship service each week. Participation in Witness is by invitation. The band offers a broad range of musical styles from “pumped-up rock” to acoustic guitar with vocals. The group performs songs from a diverse selection of Christian artists, like Lincoln Brewster, Casting Crowns, Kutless, Francesca Battistelli, Third Day, Addison Road, 33Miles, MercyMe, and many more. Music is the “international language” and it speaks in many dialects. Witness cordially invites you to check out their website!

Harmony Ringers - Adult Hand bell Choir
Foothills has had a hand bell ministry since 1978. This choir meets at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and rings frequently in both hours of worship and also in the community. They are spotlighted in our seasonal concerts and draw large crowds when they play in locations like the San Diego Zoo!
