All Together in Worship Sunday

All Together in Worship Sunday

By Pastor Jeanette and Lisa Stewart, Children & Family Ministries Coordinator

On Sunday, May 1 for both our 8:30 and 10:30 worship services, the focus of this special “All Together in Worship” will be Remembering Jesus through Communion. There will be a short sermon, a time of interactive reflection, Holy Communion, and songs for all to sing.

At Foothills UMC, we want children to continually experience the connection to the greater life of the church, especially the “thing” the church does together on Sunday mornings called “worship.” For this reason, children always begin Sunday mornings in the sanctuary with their families at Foothills UMC. Children experience the acolytes bringing the light of Christ into the sanctuary and they help “pass the peace of Christ” with those around them at the start of worship. In the 10:30 service, children participate in a special children’s message or song and a prayer before they go to KidsConnect.

Recently, the Family Ministry Design Team shared the desire of parents to have opportunities for children to experience being in worship for the entire time—to nurture the spiritual formation of children through worship with their "church family." Corporate worship is a key component to Christian faith that we want children to experience.

At “All Together In Worship” on May 1, children will experience a full view of church liturgy and music and partake of the Lord’s Supper alongside their church family. We look forward to all being together on this special Sunday where we will focus on Holy Communion as a special meal Jesus shared with his friends to help us remember God's love.
A Bible story and activity for children ages 6 months through 4 years will be available in our childcare center.
