I'm Rich!

I'm Rich!

By: La Donna Chase

Imagine you won the following prize in a contest. Each morning $86,400 would be deposited into your bank account. However, like all contests, this one has certain rules:

FIRST RULE: Whatever you don’t spend each day will be taken away from you. You may not transfer any money into another account. You may only spend it, period! Everyday you get another $86,400 deposited to your account.

SECOND RULE: The game can end without warning. Your account can be closed at anytime.

What would you do with all this good fortune? Would you buy anything and everything you wanted? Would you buy not only for yourself but also for all the people you love? Even for people you don’t know, because you couldn’t possibly spend it all on yourself and your family, right? Wouldn’t you try and use every penny everyday???

Actually, this game is REALITY. Each of us is in possession of such a magical bank. Most of the time we just don’t seem to realize it. The MAGICAL BANK is TIME! Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life and, when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time not spent is taken away. What we haven’t “used up” that day is forever lost. Yesterday is forever gone. Each morning the account is refilled, but remember, the bank can dissolve your account at any time…WITHOUT WARNING. So, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds? Aren’t they worth so much more than the same amount in dollars?

So, in this new year, enjoy every second of your life because, as we all know, time races by so quickly. Take care of yourself, be happy, love deeply and enjoy life, but above all, spend your time wisely and to the good of you and others. Remember, the word “GIFT” is defined as “something freely given and received.” James 1:17a says “But whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God…” Read also the beautiful passages about time in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

May God bless you richly in this new year and may you always use your “bank” wisely and to the fullest!
