Campus Happenings: August 2016

Greetings and the peace of the Lord to you and yours from your Board of Trustees.
Recently the Faith Academy underwent an expansion project allowing us to take in three additional infants. The project was the result of our Faith Academy consistently having a waiting list for our infant program, and simply all we needed to do was to expand the outside upper deck play area. Sounds simple, but as we all know, construction almost always comes with surprises and this project was no different. Four of the structural beams had dry-rot damage, the ledger boards had to be replaced as well as several of the non-structural posts. The entire upper deck play area flooring was removed and replaced with 'Dex-O-Tex,' which was laid down in several layers. The new wrought iron railing is powder coated, which will help keep the maintenance down. Due to the extent of the damage the project was delayed, but on Monday, August 15th, our Faith Academy opened on time with a wonderful new look to the Infant Care Center. It was a pleasure working with TJC Construction, Inc., Tim Christensen-President, and the entire crew. And a special thank you goes out to Tim for the generous $1,500.00 donation to the church.

Most of you know that the Board of Trustees opened the conversation about moving forward with the Avocado rental property. Several meetings were held and the Administrative Council is planning one more open forum. At the July Administrative Council meeting, Charlie Roach reported that the Finance Committee voted unanimously to support selling the Avocado Blvd. rental property. There are many factors that go into making a decision like this and we, your Board, want to encourage everyone to participate. A good business decision will only be made through prayer, open mindedness, thoughtful discussion, and open communication. Please look for the next Administrative Council meeting and join us.

One last thing; every year several of the Board of Trustee members roll off after serving a three-year term. If this is something that you would be interested in and would be willing to serve, or if you have questions about what we do, please contact one of us.

Thank you and the Peace of the Lord be with you from your Board of Trustees.
