God is unchanging. Construction schedules are not!

At Foundry, we are thankful for the promise in Hebrews 13 that God is “The same yesterday, today and tomorrow,” because it speaks to God’s unwavering presence – even when plans shift. Our last update to you indicated that Foundry’s new sanctuary and offices would be ready for a September 9th grand opening. Because of city permitting delays we are now looking to October 7th as the new launch date. Check our website or Facebook page for construction updates and current launch date news.

Foundry has a lot to celebrate as summer draws to a close. Our Friday Movie Nights Under the Stars series was a great success, with crowds that surpassed several hundred for each movie. This year, in cooperation with Chula Vista’s Campaign For Grade-Level Reading, we encouraged students to read the popular books that corresponded to the movie that we showed. Seeing students excited about reading was wonderful (see the picture for one student’s take on our final movie, The Lorax). Also, as a result of the movie nights, we have met many Chula Vista families who have indicated their desire to join Foundry’s weekly activities. Those connections are why we began showing community movies last year. We treasure the relationships we have been able to form in Otay Ranch and Eastlake.

Many other community partnerships have been extremely gratifying for Foundry. We are excited to be partnering with Mon Petit Chateau’s mommy café to offer exciting and fun childcare/Sunday school opportunities for our youngest members. We continue to work closely with Chula Vista’s Mayor Cox and the newly-opened library in Otay Ranch Town Center, and Pastor Christian is an active member of the Eastlake Rotary which serves local families and children in need.

With Foundry’s new launch date approaching, fall programming and even holiday preparations are underway. It has been said that “Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.” Foundry supporters would add that, “And God’s plans will overrule and outshine ANY that humans can conceive.” How exciting to stand back and watch God’s plans for Foundry unfold!
