GSMC Director's Update 5/2019
By: Danean LeNoir
“In God all Things are New.” It is fitting that the Good Shepherd Ministry Center was re-launched during the month of Easter. As a congregation we are focused on our savior’s rebirth and the love that he gave to us. This spring, at the Ministry Center, we have focused on re-opening our Ministry Center while demonstrating God’s love through the services and care that we provide to those who walk through our doors. Witnessing the support and care that is provided by volunteers supporting children through the Foothills-lead Sonshine Club and the San Dieguito tutors utilizing the ministry offices.
Society of St. Vincent De Paul partners with GSMC to provide dinners to members of our community that are in need of a healthy meal, fellowship and support.
New missions staff and volunteers providing a friendly face to those in need of an emergency food bag, information for services or a short respite from the streets.
Our most recent partner organization, Home Start, is renting our house so they can provide young homeless mothers with a safe, stable home and educational programs that give these mothers the tools to become self-sufficient and to develop healthy relationships with their children. https://home-start.org/maternity-shelter-program/
Last but not least, we have welcomed our new family to GSMC to provide them with a safe place to live while working through the process of seeking asylum. Father, Jonel, mother, Notanise, 3-year old boy Juvenscy and 3-week old boy, Joaquin are making GSMC their temporary home. This spring we have seen the work that has been done by so many dedicated volunteers bloom into the opportunity for our Ministry Center to serve those who need us the most.
