Interfaith Shelter Follow Up
By: Carolyn Wietzel
During our co-hosting of the Interfaith Shelter Network in February with Summit Unitarian Church, we were thrilled to learn that homes had been found for all of the families that were taking part in the shelter! Two of the families had immediate needs for furnishings, so each church adopted one family and did a quick job of providing basic furnishings and household goods. Our adopted family, which includes a two-year-old little girl, was very grateful for our response to their need.
As a follow-up, we requested birthday information from our adopted family so that we could help fill in the gaps and show our love for all of them. The mother will be having a birthday on April 20. Her wish list includes such household necessities as a vacuum cleaner, cleaning supplies, floor mats for the bathroom, and food. In order to reduce the clutter in their small apartment, we hope to provide them with useful gift cards.
