La Roca Grows: Part 3 - Donuts and DentistryBy: Raymond Swaveley
On Sunday mornings after service come out to the patio and enjoy a donut. It's a great way to meet new people, hang out with the youth and support a vital ministry. The coffee cart is right next to the donut table as well, so you have everything you need to keep your Sunday going well after another great Foothills sermon.
On the 1st , 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month all proceeds gathered from the donut table go to La Roca. This is an opportunity for La Roca, so remember, any extra you donate will help our mission south of the border.
A lot of these funds are currently going towards the school bathroom project at La Roca, which is coming along nicely. Recently the concrete floor for the new bathrooms was poured. Most of the old concrete in the new courtyard has been demolished and the old foundation area has been filled with dirt to make it safe for the children. The next steps are to finish concrete demolition, finish grading the courtyard area and pour the new courtyard slab.
The medical clinic at La Roca is being converted into a dental clinic as that is a higher need in the La Roca neighborhood. Two Mexican dentists have agreed to donate their time. There is a need to provide dental equipment and supplies. At the moment, the Foothills Missions Committee is seeking out one or more dentists who can help assess the needs of the dental clinic and help secure donated dental supplies. We're also trying to find a US dentist who can go down to La Roca with the mission team that leaves every third Saturday at 7 am, to assess their needs so we can mount a targeted campaign to provide dental equipment and supplies.
And as always, you can donate food to La Roca every single Sunday, by placing it in the little red wagon located on the patio, near the fountain, every Sunday.
