A Special Thank You
By Steve Hable
I have had a number of members of the congregation, and guests, tell me how impressive the music is at Foothills. I hear this after both the traditional service and the contemporary service. Certainly much of the credit goes to the leadership. Carol Paton is an extraordinary choir director, for both adults and children. She and Linda Cree also do a great job with the bell choirs. And we certainly can’t overlook the amazing talents of Glenn Ward who plays both the organ and the piano with equal skill. The contemporary music is equal to the task. Led by Tim Robertson and Glenn Ward, we enjoy the most recent contemporary, spiritual hits.
The leadership deserves special accolades, but I want to take this opportunity to recognize the members of the choir, the members of Witness and the sound technicians. Many churches our size (some even smaller) compensate their musicians, lead vocalists and technicians. There are some churches that compensate everyone that is part of the worship service.
We are blessed to have very talented people that are willing to serve. The first people in the sanctuary on a Sunday are the technicians and they are the last ones to leave. Almost every Wednesday night (Witness) and Thursday night (choir) voices echo through the sanctuary during a rehearsal. For Christmas and Easter, there are extra rehearsals. The choir takes a short summer break, while Witness is there every Sunday. Take a moment sometime soon to thank the choir, Witness and the technicians for making worship a special experience.
