I love the meditations that are printed at the top of our bulletins on Sunday. I’ve rewritten many of them below and paired them with a Bible verse that I think goes with it. See if you can come up with other verses.
“What a world this would be if we could forget our troubles as easily as we forget our blessings.”
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Ps. 118:24
“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, rather than recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”
Every good action and every perfect gift is from God. James 1:l7
“Humility does not mean thinking less of yourself than of other people, nor does it mean having a low opinion of your own gifts. It means freedom from thinking about yourself at all.”
Then he (Jesus) poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet… John 13:5.
“Preach the Gospel at all times and, when necessary, use words.”
The point is this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 2 Cor 9:6.
“When will our consciences grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it?”
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:3
“If the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough.”
Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:23
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
In the world ye shall have tribulations; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.”
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here I am. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
“Giving is more than a responsibility, it is a privilege; more than an act of obedience, it is evidence of our faith.”
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matt: 6:21
“Speak up and speak clearly. I want to hear what you have to say because it matters. Let’s listen to each other and respect one another’s opinions. Although they may be different, wisdom allows us to be responsible for our own feelings and actions.”
On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found. Proverbs 10:13a
