An Act of Love Screening With Rev. Frank Schaefer
The Reconciling Fellowship cordially invites you to a screening of the film An Act of Love... A compelling and award winning documentary about the trial that rocked the United Methodist Church and the minister who risked it all for his gay son. The pastor behind the drama, Rev. Frank Schaefer, will be in attendance for this intimate evening, that will include a Q&A and a performance by our FUMY band.
The event is Friday, 2/24, beginning at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.
Family Fun on February 12
Family eXperience meets every second Sunday in Foothills King Hall at 11:45 am, after worship services. So the next one is 2/12! Enjoy a complimentary lunch with other families of children ages 3-14. Brew Up Some Faith
Another meeting of the monthly casual faith discussion group, Brewing Faith, is coming up on 2/1 at 6:30 pm at the Hooley's in Grossmont Center. This group meets every first Wednesday of the month for questions of faith in a casual atmosphere. The group is led by Pastor Eric and everyone is welcome to join in.
Family Mission Team  (Date & Room Change)
Families interested in exploring a Family Mission Trip this summer, are invited to gather on Sunday, 2/12 at 4:00 p.m. in Pastor Jeanette's office. A trip in California or nearby is being planned and your input is needed about dates and possible mission projects. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to make a difference and create experiences to last a lifetime.
Souper Bowl Sunday is 2/5
Before enjoying the big game on 2/5, bring canned goods to church and make a huge play for the local community in need. Food stores are down after the holiday surge and we need to make sure that people don't go hungry during these cold winter months. Bring as much as you can and leave it at the wagons near the narthex doors for the Good Neighbor Center.
Parents, Have A Night Out February 11
Take the night off and drop off the kids with the Foothills youth group (FUMY) on Saturday, 2/11. Drop off begins at 5:00 pm and pickup is 8:30 pm. It's only $20 per kid, not to exceed $40. They will be entertained and fed and your money goes towards getting youth to summer camp! Make your reservation by 2/6
Discover All There is at Foothills
Discover Foothills on 2/19 at 11:45 am in the Conference Room, is an opportunity for those that are new to the community to find out what the church stands for and what it does for the community. Hear directly from Pastors Eric and Jeanette over a free lunch all the potential that can be created when we join together in a positive and affirming mission. Read More
A Call For Lenten Devotionals
Please consider submitting a Lenten Devotional! These are daily prayers, anecdotes, and bible verses that bring us closer to God during the time leading up to Easter. A typical devotion layout starts with a Bible verse then a story or anecdote and ends with a prayer. Send yours by email to Shandra Zawacki or leave your devotion in the church office before February 15.
Volunteer Your Time with the Interfaith Shelter
The Interfaith Shelter is a rotating shelter for homeless people who are actively working towards bettering their lives and finding a job. Foothills will host the shelter at a nearby church from 2/11 - 2/25. Many volunteers are needed to make this a success. Email our missions coordinator, Carolyn Wietzel, if you are able to be an overnight host, provide meals, transportation, laundry services or hygiene packets.
50th Anniversary Luncheon (Time Change)
Each year, Foothills throws a grand celebratory luncheon for all the couples in the congregation that have been married for 50 years or more. If you're a member and have reached this amazing milestone, you should be receiving an invitation to the February 4 event. If you want to make sure that you are on the list, or if you do not receive an invitation, please contact the church office at 619-670-4009. The luncheon will be held in King Hall at 12 pm.
