The Spotlight
This week the Foothills Faith Academy students let loose butterflies that they had been caring for over the last several weeks. Foothills member Paulette Bacling, representing our EarthCare and Roots and Shoots programs, has been teaching the students all about butterflies, caterpillars and stewardship for the earth. After some songs and prayers, the butterflies were allowed to take flight as the students, their teachers and the Foothills staff watched with delight.

What's Happening at Foothills
Trunk-or-Treat at Foothills October 25  
Our Foothills Faith Academy is hosting a safe, daytime trick-or-treating option in the lower parking lot. Foothills members and Faith Academy parents will park, decorate the trunks of their and pass out candy to all the little ghouls and gremlins from 4 to 6 pm. Read More 
Craft Faire at Foothills November 2 and 3  
King Hall will be packed with the sights, sounds and smells of the holidays during the annual Faith Academy Craft Faire. Come shop through inventive, cute and handy arts and crafts made by local artisans from 9 am until 5 pm on these two days. Read More
United Methodist Men Dinner, October 27  
The United Methodist Men's group is having a great time this year. Be a part of it on Tuesday October 27 at 6:30 pm at their next dinner. The homemade meals are fantastic and the speakers are engaging and informative. This month's speaker is Mark Neville from the San Diego Bowl Association (football games). Read More

Impact Your Community: Sat. October 17 
Volunteer to work at the annual Park Appreciation Day! All ages are welcome to participate. Signed waivers are required. parents must accompany children under 18 years at the parks. Get your friends together, wear your red Impact shirts, and help beautify La Mesa parks. For more information contact Susan Naslund.
Foothills Folks Oktoberfest/Halloween  
The next Foothills Folks will be a fusion of Oktoberfest and Halloween. Brats and Sauerkraut with peppers and onions on the side will be served. Then we will be entertained by fiddler duo Willow and Alex. Come out for this great and energetic pot-luck luncheon. Read More
Reiki Light Touch Energy Healing at Foothills
Reiki master and Foothills member Kathy Cueva will be hosting an appointment-only clinic here at Foothills on Sunday, October 18 at 1 pm, to treat participants with the ancient healing power of Reiki. The healing art form is used to treat all maladies, practiced by many and utilized in our local hospitals by Kathy herself. Contact Kathy
Bake Cookies for the Next Kairos Retreat   
The Foothills Kairos missionaries will be heading to RJ Donovan prison to share the Word and the hope of God with the inmates there. There are many ways to be a part of the mission, chief among them being the baking of cookies which are a strong invitational element of the retreat. Cookies needed on 10/25. Read More
German Choir Performance, Needs Housing 
On October 23 at 7 pm, Foothills is pleased to present a visiting youth choir from Einbeck Germany in concert in the Sanctuary. Everyone is invited to enjoy this special event. We are also in need of hosts for the youth and their families while they are in San Diego. If you can provide a place for them, contact Carol Paton
