Lent: Where Am I Going?   
The period called Lent is 40 days of reflection and spiritual preparation finishing with Holy Week and Easter. This Lent at Foothills we will focus on the question "Where Am I Going?" while offering lots of enriching opportunities: On Sundays, witness "Scripture Alive" during worship as actors present the Word. On Mondays, pray and meditate with Pastor Eric in the sanctuary. On Wednesdays, enjoy dinner with friends and then learn about world religions with incredible lectures. A New Men's Fellowship at Foothills 
Calling all "man power" at Foothills UMC! This gathering has been a while in coming, but it's finally here: the men of Foothills are getting together to vision, call upon our "man power," and formulate action plans for our upcoming year and beyond. We need your input. Please come ready to discuss your ideas over a delicious breakfast at 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 25 in King Hall. Contact Armond Wietzel or call the church office to reserve your place, so the appropriate amount of food can be ordered.
Greeters, Hosts, Muggers: Sunday Morning Volunteers Needed! 
It takes a village to make Sunday mornings run smoothly at Foothills. A small commitment of only 30-60 minutes each month is needed, but may have one of the greatest impacts to growing our church community. If you are able to provide this small amount of time being a host of Foothills, please contact the church office.  
The Annual Mad Hatter's Tea 
The annual Mad Hatter's Tea and luncheon is coming on 4/29, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, hosted at Monte Vista Village. Join in the tea party of the year and support Meals on Wheels San Diego's East County office. Tickets are only $30 to enjoy delicious tea, tasty treats, opportunity drawings and much cheer. RSVPs are due by April 14 and you can contact Marilyn Honea (619-660-2136) to coordinate your attendance. Be sure and wear your most fanciful hat, as there will be a hat parade with prizes!
Lenten Devotionals Are Ready 
After much time and care in the compilation, the lenten devotionals are ready to guide you through the season. Contact the church office or stop by, to get one. They will be available in the church narthex on Sunday mornings as well. Many thanks to Shandra Zawacki for putting these together for everyone. 
Be A Blessing to Others 
Please donate a box of granola bars and individual serving size packaged raisins, trail mix, pretzels and/or goldfish to church on 3/12 and 3/19. Following the 10:30 service on 3/19, the congregation and Faith Academy families will assemble "blessing bags" to put in their car to give to a person in need of some nourishment and comfort. Family Camp 
The 2017 Family Camp weekend has been announced for Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29! Sign your family up now for a fun weekend in the sun and the mountains of Julian at Camp Cedar Glen. Take part in family games, a climbing wall, archery, swimming, variety shows, campfires and more. All of the fun will be in the theme 'come together.' The cost is $100 per person with scholarships available. Contact Carla Slater for more information and to sign up
Relax, Release, Renew! 
Heal yourself and heal your friends with easy-to-learn and simple techniques! They can help increase relaxation, reduce pain and anxiety, release trapped emotions and improve overall well-being. Sign up and pay the $25 fee online, for a fun-filled afternoon and learn to bring your body's energy into balance so it can heal itself, naturally! Sunday, 4/2 from 2:00-4:30 pm in King Hall. 
El Nido Beauty Night 
El Nido is a transitional apartment shelter for abused women and their families who found themselves homeless after fleeing their abusers. On 3/28 at 6 pm, the mothers get the royal treatment with a beauty night put on by the shelter and the supporting churches. If you are, or know, a beautician, hair stylist or massage therapist and interested in donating your services that night, please contact Steven Topham
Family eXperience in March   
Involve your family in one of Foothills' most vibrant and enjoyable fellowship opportunites -- FX! If you have children aged 3-14, this program is designed to support the themes learned by your children during Sunday morning's KidsConnect while bringing them closer to family, friends and the church. FX takes place every second Sunday of the month after second service, at 11:45 am in King Hall. Lunch and games provided. Read More 
Foothills Folks  
Foothills monthly senior luncheon, Foothills Folks meets again on 3/8 at 11:45 am. Take part in this joyous fellowship where lunch, entertainment and lots of smiles are provided completely free in the Youth Center. 
Daylight Saving Time Sunday 3/12 
Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday 3/12, so be sure and set your clocks forward an hour the night before and be on time to church in the morning. 
Maximizing Brain Health Workshop  
Maximizing Brain Health is a free 1-time workshop, taking place on Tuesday, March 7, at 10:00 am in King Hall run by Alzheimer's San Diego. Aging well means taking care of your brain, as well as the rest of your body. Learn the risk factors for dementia, and how to reduce your risk of cognitive decline through some simple lifestyle changes. Read more 
Support Kairos Missionaries in their Next Retreat 
A Kairos retreat is coming on March 23-26 and cookies are needed March 12 & 19. Please visit the Kairos page for all the details on how you can support this very important ministry. The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, as well as to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen. Cookies may be the a draw to the program, but participants find much more. Read More
