and takes a look at how our two faiths approach the Bible
Upcoming Highlights
Cookies Needed for the Kairos Mission
Foothills' Kairos missionaries are headed back to RJ Donovan Correctional Facility, October 19 - 22nd. These men head into the prison in order to bring the word of God, as well as some peace and comfort to "the men in blue" who take part in the program. One of the best parts of the retreat is delivering home-baked, fresh cookies to the participants. Many are needed and the rules for delivery are pretty specific, since they are going into a prison. So please, head to our website to read more and see how you can contribute.
Family eXperience is Back!
Family eXperience "FX" starts again on Sunday, October 8th in King Hall at 11:30am. Don't miss this special FX featuring a family forum with Pastor Greg! FX is designed to connect families with kids ages 3 through 8th grade to what the kids are learning in KidsConnect. Held on the 2nd Sundays of the month October through May at 11:30am, FX features lunch (free!), a family service project, and a family faith-building activity.
Administrative Council: October 8
Please mark your calendars for the upcoming Church Council meeting on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 6pm in King Hall. Now that the merger between Foothills and El Cajon 1st has been approved, we will begin visioning for the future of Good Shepherd Ministry Center and the outreach opportunities it presents. Dinner will be provided. Hope to see you there!
Brew Up Some Faith and Fellowship, October 4
The monthly Brewing Faith meet-up gets together again on Wednesday, October 4 at the Hooley's in Grossmont Center, for questions and discussions of faith in a casual setting. Pastor Greg facilitates this group that meets every first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm.
Caregiver's Support Group at Foothills
If you are caring for someone, Becky Chong and Sue Sullivan have coordinated a support group for you. The group meets every 2nd and 4th Wednesday in the Youth Lounge at 9:30 am. Learn and share methods of working with patients. Free respite care is available for your patient during these meetings through the coordinators. Contact them for more information.
Moms Connect Bakes Kairos Cookies
Moms Connect is a support and fellowship group for mothers of children of all ages that meets every first and third Wednesday of the month. On October 4, the group will be having a special off-campus meeting to bake dozens of cookies for the Kairos prison ministry. This is a great time to get involved and to do something memorable in mission for those in need. For details, contact Pastor Jeanette.
A Rummage Sale Approaches

What would you guess is one of Foothills' most reliable and profitable fundraisers? If you've been at Foothills for a while, you know it is our twice-yearly rummage sales. These community events consistently raise thousands of dollars to support ministries and missions of this church and draw hundreds of new people through our doors who shop and experience Foothills' hospitality. What better reason to do a little de-cluttering in your own home and make a donation to the next Rummage Sale? Volunteers are greatly needed to make this fundraiser work. Contact Marian Folkner, or just show up and the organizers will put you to work!
St. John's Bible Print Exhibition
In 1998, famous calligrapher Donald Jackson, was commissioned by St. John's Abbey to create an illuminated Bible for the modern age. The work is considered a masterpiece and exquisitely beautiful. From Ocotber 1 to November 5, 25 of the prints will be on display at First United Methodist Church of San Diego in a special exhibit. Get all the details from their website
Fall Classes at Foothills
Summer is winding down and we kick off our fall season with a variety of engaging adult classes. Three classes will be offered this fall. Two class times are available for a study on Moses.
