That's A Wrap

A Massive Amount of Growth at the Pantry
Serving 90 families before the pandemic, to an all time high of 376 and now to a stable 255, the food pantry at GSMC has come a long way with the help of many volunteers. Read about their celebration and what's next for the pantry as drive-through distribution ends.

The Next Steps Towards Racial Justice

Almost a year ago, we began our work for intentional anti-racist work by educating ourselves on racism. Pastor Greg and I led two book studies, White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo and How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi. They also joined with other Foothillians and La Mesa churches for a book study called, Dialogues on Race, sponsored by our neighbor, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Even though we will continue to educate ourselves on racism and how to be an antiracist activist, we feel it is time to take action. We are looking for people to serve on a Racial Justice Task Force to lead us in the next steps of dismantling racism and creating an equitable church and society.

Gathering on the Green...

Contemplative Style!
Gathering on the Green is back for 3 Sundays this summer. On the 4th Sunday of the month (June 27, July 25, & August 22), Pastor Kristie will hold a Contemplative Worship experience at 8:30 am. Contemplative Worship is an opportunity to be still and quiet ourselves in order to open our hearts to God. This 30-minute service will offer time for stillness, Scripture readings, reflection, quiet music, prayer, and meditation. Bring a chair and an openness to encounter Christ’s presence. No reservations necessary. For more info, contact Pastor Kristie.

2021 Graduates!

Let's Celebrate you!
It's that time of year when we celebrate all our graduates from High School and College. If you or someone in your family will be graduating this year, we want to celebrate you! Please send your name, school, and degree (If graduating from college) to Sue Ranck by June 15. We will be recognizing all our graduates on June 20 during worship service.
