Praise Band Leader
Bobby Cressey, our new “Witness” Leader, comes to us from the Church at Rancho Bernardo, where he was the keyboardist for five years. His earliest exposure to music was the contemporary choir led by his parents for twenty years in North County San Diego. He began formal piano lessons at the age of 10 when his family moved to Europe. When his family returned stateside four years later, Bobby’s study of music became a passion. A sophomore in high school at the time, he began playing in church in his own right while at the same time discovering the many genres of music that he loves to play including classical, Jazz, blues, reggae and contemporary pop. During his college years at UCSD his passion for music continued to grow until it became an inevitable career choice.
He has since gone on to tour the world and appear on television playing with an extremely diverse group of artists in different genres. He currently plays in San Diego’s premier Top 40 band The Mighty Untouchables and performs all over Southern California with various projects including his own jazz groups. Since 2010 he has been the organist for the San Diego Padres day games, and in 2017 became the organist for San Diego Gulls hockey. In addition to performing he also composes music for film and television and teaches from his home studio.
We welcome Bobby to the staff at Foothills UMC and look forward to his leadership for our Contemporary worship service.
