KidsConnect is our 10:30am Sunday morning program for kids ages 3* through 8th grade. We help kids discover how they can "live in faith" by loving God and loving others . . . not just on Sundays, but every day of the week! Not just when life is going great, but especially when life is tough. *NOTE: If your 3 or 4-year-old would prefer an unstructured environment with access to toys, they are welcome at the infant/toddler center.
We know that families are looking to partner with a church for spiritual formation. So, at Foothills, we help kids connect with the Bible message in a personally relevant and engaging way. We help families reinforce what was talked about on Sunday with user-friendly tools such as the free Parent Cue app you can use during everyday activities such as mealtime, drive time, and bedtime.
Our goal is the same as yours. We want kids to grow up choosing to love and follow Jesus with their lives -- loving God and loving others through their words and actions. During easy times, and during the rough times. Making the decision to trust God and to shine His light in the world. We are excited to partner with you to help shape and influence the faith of kids and families!
What does KidsConnect “look like”?
We begin with an engaging Bible story. Then kids explore how the message applies to their lives through interactive games and activities in small groups organized by age. These small groups help kids build relationships with their peers and with their leaders. And research shows that making “small group connections” helps kids (and adults!) grow a faith that sticks. By the way, “Sticky Faith: Everyday Ideas to Build Lasting Faith in Your Kids,” by Kara E. Powell, Chap Clark , et al. is a great resource for parents.
For curriculum, we use Orange 252Basics. We think the resources and lessons do a great job connecting the scripture and Bible message to real-life situations. And kids love the interactive and engaging activities and games that keep them moving!
For the 8:30 service, we currently do not offer KidsConnect. Instead, kids ages 2nd grade and older will worship with their families in the sanctuary and can pick up a Worship Activity Bag to help them follow along. Kids ages 1st grade and younger will be escorted to "Bible Fun for Kids...and More!" in the childcare center for a Bible story, craft, and time on the playground.
